Back in the States

God is so faithful. I have successfully and safely made it back into the States. I had a 10.5 hour flight over water returning to America. Though I am ready to come home, my next assignment is in Washington, D.C. to serve on the Board of Directors for Bread for the World. This is an organization committed to ending hunger all over the world including Africa. Travel has been long, dealing with delay of flights, and a lot of sitting. The Africa trip was truly a blessing to my life. Many things were accomplished in the jurisdiction there. Service was good at the Saturday assembly. We appointed 7 Superintendents, a General secretary, and an Advisory Board. We also identified a recommendation for a Supervisor of Women. I passed out many COGIC Black Manuals to Pastors. We also were able to start a database of emails so we can share information with the Pastors there. The saints there are in anticipation of their upcoming Convocation this summer, for they haven't had one in awhile. I left our brothers and sisters in Ghana eager for our return later this year. I missed worshipping with the saints at Mt. Carmel this morning, but I heard service was good and souls were saved. I look forward to returning to Kansas City and worshipping with you soon. The Refugee Camp

We traveled to Lome, Togo. An expected 3 hour trip turned into a 4 hour trip there and back. A delegation of 13 of us went. The temperature is in the 90's. It is very hot, but I'm drinking lots of water. It was worth the drive. I learned so much from this experience. Once back in Ghana, the next day we went to a Liberian refugee camp about 1.5 hours away. It was tough there. The people there are living in poverty because they are not allowed to work. The officials won't allow refugees to get jobs because it would take jobs away from the local Ghanians. Needless to say there is a shortage of jobs. But the refugee camp had the nicest church I have seen since I've been here. We had a great service with them. Later on the same day we had one of our final services together. The service started about 3pm even though many of us had been there since 2pm. I told them I believe in starting things on time. Yes, I am sharing the message of Excellence even in Africa. This meeting was very successful. I will share the details in a future post. Just some funny things: I have had to throw away 2 toothbrushes because I keep running them under the running water (in Africa, we have to use bottled water to stay healthy). God Bless, Pastor

Long and Busy Days

Well the days are long and busy. There is so much to do and accomplish here. I am doing fine though. My health is good. I'm drinking plenty of bottled water and 2 meals a day. Anything more than that is too much right now. On Wednesday I met with Sis. Agnes and the Women's Department of the Ghana Jurisdiction. That meeting went well. Another Pastor from the States has also met us here. He has been a great support. Next on the list is traveling to Togo, Africa. It's about a 3 hour bus ride. The roads are not smooth like in America. It is pretty rough riding sometimes. On Saturday Morning we plan to go to a refugee camp which is 1.5 hours away. I am looking forward to that. I'm sure I will have a lot to report from that visit. I hope I get the chance to visit Sarah's Academy Int'l and the Mt. Carmel Church while I am here. The saints here are so excited and are already planning for the next trip in July. The weight and significance of this work is starting to register. There is so much need and such high expectations. At the end of most days I am mentallly and physically exhausted, but God is always faithful. Until next time, Pastor

Things are going good!

It has been a good trip so far. I had some difficulty getting into my blog at first, but gladly I found a way to get you the updated information. I had 18 hours of traveling and then a full day of meetings. I met with Sis. Patricia and her husband today. It was good to meet with members of the Mt. Carmel COGIC in Ghana. I also met with Eld. Denny from the National church. We went to Bishop Baidoo's house and he is supportive about everything that is going on. He is now emeritus and I am the Director of Missions for Ghana. I thank God for everyone who is praying for me back home. Well I am barely walking I am so sleeply. I am going to bed early. God Bless.

The Night Before Travel

Tomorrow begins a long but exciting day of travel to Ghana, West Africa. I thank God for all of you who are praying for me as I travel. A song from my childhood stays with me now, "Take the Lord along with you everywhere you go." May the grace of the Lord be with you all.

I will be traveling to Africa Monday, March 5, 2007. I am excited about the opportunity to visit with my brothers and sisters in Ghana, West Africa. I am expecting a great move of God. Please come back and visit my blog as I report updates on the awesome experiences I will have during my travel.
